Frequently Asked Questions...
What is counselling?
Counselling is a confidential space where you can talk openly about what is affecting your life. It offers support, understanding, and the opportunity to gain insight, build resilience, and find new ways forward.
Do I need to know what to talk about?
No. Many clients begin therapy feeling unsure or overwhelmed. We can explore things together at your pace, and it’s okay if you don’t have the words straight away.
How long are sessions and how often will we meet?
Sessions usually last 50 minutes and are typically weekly. This can be reviewed together depending on your needs.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number. Some people come for short-term support, others prefer longer-term therapy. We will review the work regularly and decide together what feels right.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Counselling is confidential, with clear boundaries. The only exception would be if there were serious concerns about your or others safety, which I would always aim to discuss with you first.
What if I feel emotional during a session?
Strong emotions are welcome in therapy. You will be supported with care and compassion, and there is no expectation to hold anything back.
What if therapy doesn’t feel right for me?
The therapeutic relationship is important. If something doesn’t feel helpful, we can talk about it openly, and you are always free to decide what is best for you.
Therapy is a way to find the courage to face your fears and to live a more fulfilling life
